Briefing genomförd och sniffer i luften och flygplanen på griden. Dagens uppgifter utdelade, gemensam bana för Std och 15m på 309,9 km och en separat för Open på 353,7 km. Vädret fortfarande lite segt. Beräknad första start 1230.
Nu tar en stressad kntrlchef en matpaus. Hur länge den nu varar!

Dagen startar tidigt, som vanligt för tävlingsledningen. Mika och Leffe sitter i sekretariatet och ordnar dagens första briefing redan vid 0630. De tävlande och deras medhjälpare börjar krypa ut ur sina husvagnar och släpa sig mot duschen. Café "Morronzol" öppnar snart för dagen. det ska smaka med frukost för en trött kontrollchef.
Vädret ser lite "tjurigt" ut och HIRLAM ligger nere! Dagen börjar bra, eller va? Nästa punkt för dagen är briefing kl. 0830.

Organisationen är liten och det är mycket att göra. En felaktig version av Lokala Föreskrifter upptäcktes på VSFK´s hemsida, som hamnat där av datatekniskt misstag. Det rättades till och samtidigt förtydligades texten vid punkten "start- och mållinje". Det blev en sen kväll för stora delar av tävlingsorganisationen.

Eskilstuna International Open 2008 is over, we had a great farewell party, pilots were satisfied... all is good!
Soaringspot worked really well, except some availability problems ("user ... has already maximum connections"/"invalid registration key" or something) and the annoying thing that in retrospect cancelled days look like nobody has ever flown them, when in fact all pilots were up in the air, produced and uploaded igc files, but only 25% or less managed to fly 100km (handicapped)...
And we never got the hang of folders in the picture gallery. Whenever we tried to create a directory using a template, we got an error message. So we created folder without templates, which are invisable to users. So we had to use a Q&D fix...
We at Ekeby airfield in Eskilstuna used to create our own xsl-termplates for SeeYou Competition as well as manage our own webserver etc... but this typically required >2 people for a larger competition. This time, I was doing the job alone and managed to handle 40 pilots without any bigger problems. For redundancy, we rigged a computer and a LCD projector in our cafeteria, directly displaying the html resultfiles produces by CUC. This avoids internet ...

You have flown in a competition. You have all the IGC files. And you have replayed them numerous times already. But... What was the weather like on that day? What was the forecast?
 Wetter-Jetzt team now provides the weather maps for Soaring Spot! For all competition days starting January 2008 you may now see the the weather forecast as soon as the task is published by the scoring team. After the flight you may revisit the Meteo page in order to find even more maps there which will enable you to do a little bit of weather analysis for free. A good example of how this data is integrated to Soaring Spot may be seen at the competition pages of Flight Challenge Cup from Prievidza, Slovakia:
