The internet has been not working more than it has been working so ithas been difficult to post anything.Simon Brown outlanded 17km away on the way out, GeoffVincent abandoned the task and GEM also outlanded but I’m not sure where.The ABC news cameras were here and we may be on the newstonight.Scores may be late due to the IT issues.Pilots had a good blue day to 7000’ day with the odd climbto 9000’.

They started launching at 1pm (more or less into wind for a change) and the last gate opened at2.30. They are all doing the A task.They are at 5000’ or more as far as I can see - we did haveone glider with a red nose below launch height for quite a while but he gotaway eventually.

Someone has pointed out to me that it should now be possible to land in the river some distance away and drift into the finish circle.The local paper had a report on the event with some photos and also reported that Bill Mudge was very excited and dancing around like a kid in a lolly shop. The pilots who flew the task yesterday reported a 5000’ blueday with some climbs to 7000’ on the last leg. For those of you who saw the initial scores, the error wasdue to SeeYou treating the AAT circles as a set task, all fixed now. They launched 15m class at 2.00pm when the sniffer reported 3-4kts to 3600'. Then after watching for a while the launch was held. At 2.30pm they changed the task for all classes, except 15m class to the B task. The 15m gate opened at 14.55 for a 3hour task. Shortly after that the day was cancelled for all other classes. So new we are watching the cricket and trying to stay cool.Tomorrow promises to be better

I was mistaken yesterday in reporting Chris the Kiwi as outlanding 8km away, that was hiscountryman. Chris actually got around but missed the first turn and had atechnical outlanding :-(Today at briefing they took a vote and decided to increase thefinish circle size from 1.5km to 2km. When John asked if anyone had any otheroperational issues, someone called out “no clouds” - it will be the same today.They are expecting a late start today so gridding is notuntil 12.30 with first launch expected...

Most of the pilots are back with varying reports. Some talking of 13kts and 9000' and others of scratching away from 1000'. Someone said it was basically a 7000' day with good and bad patches. So far I have heard that GEM has outlanded at Lake Culleraine, and Chris - the Tasman trophy pilot 8km away (we watched him try to stay airborne from the finish line).Stop press Hayden the task setter has outlanded near Loxton.A mixed day as I'm sure the results will reflect.

They've all gone, the launch started at 1pm, but took a little longer than yesterday as we had a slight tailwind on 08 and the tugs were landing a bit longer. John Orton in his 55 kept us entertained on the grid as he sashshayed down the runway. We had an official opening by Dean Maywald the local Mayor and then his wife Karlene, the water minister. Noel Roedigger and Sean Jorgensen-Day have flown in from Adelaide for the day. The forecast is for a max of 36 today, giving thermals to 8000' but with a later start and a strong sea breeze later. Tasks are triangles to the south and then East. Today was the official practice day. We had a comprehensive briefing in the ‘igloo’ hangar and a forecast of 32C today and SE winds blue - of course - and climbs to 6500’. Tomorrow should be 39C with NE winds. 53 gliders have registered and today all but PNL and GG flew, it took around an hour to launch the grid.
