Day 6

Day 6 is one of those days which won't make up its mind. It is probably flyable, but is it taskable? Our admin team think not. The day is cancelled. Tomorrow is definitely out with heavy and widespread rain approaching, so the Club Class National are over, and prizes have been presented. Our congratulations to Mark Wilson who won every day.

Day Five

The best day yet! Thermals up to 8000ft, but still enough challenges around the task to sort out the men from the boys. Tomorrow is not looking quite so good, but we'll have a roast dinner tonight at the Club and see what we can manage in the penultimate day tomorrow

Day 4

No flying yesterday, but the day was not wasted. We enjoyed a very informative session about Hypoxia, presented by Hamish Funnell from Taupo Tandem Skydive. Hamish outlined the causes and sometimes insidious effects of hypoxia, and was even able to demonstrate the early effects with a couple of volunteers who underwent oxygen deprivation through a system that Hamish brought with him.  Today is looking good enough to set a task at this stage, but time will tell. A Good Start

Taupo turned on some beautiful weather for the start of the Club Class Nationals, and we have had two really good days of racing. Sunday - day one - was a cracker, and a good start to the week as a follow-up to a practise day on Saturday which showed up the usual "rusty spots" . There was only one landout on Sunday, and that was only a few hundred metres from the airfield after a severe area of unexpected sink!
