In the short wings, Allan Barnes (S7) reclaimed first place and extended his overall lead with a 115.76kph performance.  David Pickles (AY) came 2nd with 106.48kph and Kimberly Olsen (KO) achieved her best placing of the comp with 100.84kph.  Overall rankings in Sports class thus far are Barnes, Dickson & Turner.  Special mention must go to Kimberly Olsen who achieved her 2nd podium finish of the competition. Tasking - D5

Weatherman Mac Ichikawa (1M) promises another day of Cu in a weather briefing that reported the glancing influence of a trough with a cold front to follow in the coming days.  Light and variable winds and 4-5kts to 4,500' AGL at 12pm will kick off a day capable of 575-805km flights.  By 3pm, competitors should enjoy 5-7kt Cu-marked climbs to 9,500' AGL and perhaps 1,000' higher in the north.  Conditions are forecast to weaken considerably by 5pm. Report - D4

All gliders are safely home and accounted for with a stream of landings that started at 1648hrs and didn't end until 1826!  In 18m/Open, Mac Ichikawa (1M) showed he wasn't willing to shift from the highest step of the podium, chalking up a blistering 142.3kph.  The dynamic duo of Taylor & Edwards rounded out the top 3 with 139.3 and 135.8kph respectively.  An honourable mention must go to Kerrie Claffey (T1) with 122.3kph, nipping at the heels of the top three. Tasking - D4

Task setter Bruce Taylor (QR) has decided to stretch the legs of the group, setting racing tasks of 382km for the short wings and 502km for the long wings.  That will put competitors just 30km from the Queensland state border! Bruce must have liked what comp weatherman Mac Ichikawa (1M) had to say, promising 4-5kts to 4,500' AGL at 12:00, increasing to 5-7kts to 7,500' AGL with Cu by 3pm, even higher in the north.  The soaring day is forecast to continue into the early evening with 4-5kts at 170...

Weatherman Mac Ichikawa (1M) gave regular updates to the grid as temperatures climbed and cloud departed the tasking area.  He reported conditions for the most part following the forecast.
