It is currently raining and the forecast is for the rain to continue into the afternoon and tomorrow with no hope of taskable weather.
The 2026 Nationals are over and with only three flying days, we don't have a valid compeition.
Thur 6 Aug - Day 9
At the morning meeting, the early forecasts showed almost zero chance of a soaring day, so the meeting was reconvened for 11 AM to review the updated forecasts. They also showed no chance of a taskable day and the day was cancelled. Around noon the sky cleared and some cu started to appear, but they were all low around 2000 AGL and by 1430 the rain started at the field.

Wed 5 Aug - Day 8
The forecast showed a chance to get a small task so gridding started at the regular time, with everyone well practised at gridding by this point in the contest. The day was expected to start blue and three sniffers were launched. One was able to stick while two fell out. The next three in line were launched and two of those fell out and the final of the first three. The sniffer who did stick was able to get over 3000 AGL and small cu started to pop. Mon 3 Aug - Day 6
The question today was whether the task was optimistic or if the forecast was pessimistic. It turns out the condtions were better than forecast. Cu started early and we were able to launch at noon with lift to 3000 AGL. The gates were opened with the 18/20 m gate opening last at 1321. Cu on course to the first turn area worked, but not all of them. The second leg along the shore of Lake Erie was better, but once leaving the Hagarsville area the conditions became softer and lower. Sun 2 Aug - Day 5
Today is a rain day and the day was called last night, freeing everyone up to do other things for the day. Yesterday we tried, 2 sniffers as well as a few club gliders were launched, but thermals were weak and only up to 2100 AGL. At 2 PM the day was scrubbed. A few pilots launched and found climbs to 5000 ft around 3 pm, but the lift was very localized and there were rain showers along the course line. After landing they deemed the task to be unachievable.

Fri 31 July - Day 3
The day was called at 2:30 after the sniffer was unable to climb above 2500 AGL after an hour and a half in the air. Conditions on the ground felt very stable with no breeze and a hazy looking sky. Tonight we have a rum tasting event in the clubhouse to help soothe the loss of a flying day.

Thu 30 July - Day 2
The forecast for the day showed reasonable conditions to the south and west with blue skies and lighter winds than yesterday with the wind tapering later in the day. A sniffer was launched and was not able to stick so a second sniffer was launched and also fell out. The third sniffer stuck and the launch was started around 1315 with tasks scaled back to 2.5 hrs for club and 2 hrs for 18/20m. Wed 29 July - Day 1
After three days of working on towplanes we finally managed to get all three of them airborne today, just in time for Day 1. Fortunately, from a towplane perspective, the weather was not good enough on the practise days to even consider flying, easing the angst over the lack of towplanes.
