After yesterday's landouts and late returns to the airfield we delayed briefing by 30 minutes today to give the competitors a chance to rig before briefing.

The forecast suggested a slow start with convection heights taking their time to get high enough to grid launch before going potentially to over 7000 feet , mostly blue with small cu amounts in the task area. Thermals took their time to work up high enough to launch so we reduced the AAT task duration to 2.5 hours to give competitors a chance to return before the expected sea breeze kicked in. The sea breeze came through before the grid was launched but with a few exceptions the competitors were able to climb away and reach the remot start point.

The day turned out to be mostly blue with a convergence line marked by a small line of cu clouds along the Cotswold Edge. Some fast flights were flown but some of the late starters regretted their decision to start late as they battled back into a strong sea breeze headwind towards the finish line, many landing just short or failing to get over the finish ring.

Up and coming Junior James Bartlett took the day win with the usual suspects in hot pursuit. Johnny Roberts doing enough to win the overall title after gaining just enough height ridge soaring just before the finish ring to flop over the finish.
