Pre-European Gliding Championships 2012 (Provence Glide) Championnat de France 15m

Frankreich,   2. Juni 2012 – 9. Juni 2012

Letter of Intent / Invitation for Vinon 2012

Dear Gliding Friends,

The gliding club of Vinon and the french gliding federation are proud to host the 2013 European Gliding Championship in the 15m, 18m and Open classes.

On behalf of the AAVA and the FFVV, we are pleased to inform you about the following.

The Pre-European Gliding Championship will take place at Vinon with contest days from the 2nd to the 9th of June 2012.  There will be three classes : 15m, 18m and Open. All worldwide competitors wanting to train for the 2013 EGC are welcome upto a maximum of 110 entries.

Please note that the Pre-EGC 15m class will incorporate the 2012 Standard+15m french nationals, therefore 25 places of 40 are reserved for french participants until the 29th of February 2012. IGC Ranking will be used if a class is overbooked on this date.

A training week is proposed from the 26th of May to the 1st of June 2012. It will be possible to fly in two-seaters with skilled mountain pilots or in your own gliders with the coaching of Vinon’s instructors.

To maximize the participation, fun and safety, the organisation team is committed solely to  following rules for the 2012 French Nationals and the Pre-EGC :

The constest area will be restricted to the well-known and easy Southern French Alps.

No task will be launched if the wind is too extreme.

Tasks will be designed for high average speed for everybody by avoiding tricky areas which are known only by the locals. Such fast tasks will improve safety and reduce the fatigue of pilots during an intense race week.

We want the best pilot to win, and not the best mountain pilot, without any accidents or intimidating task setting : just sport, sun and fun!

Such rules would apply for the 2013 EGC in Vinon, depending on team feed backs.

We hope to see you at Vinon. You can trust in the organisation team to make Vinon 2012 and 2013 a wonderful event.

Best Regards,

The President of the                                                             The President of the
