2026 South African Nationals

Potchefstroom, South Africa,   October 3, 2026 – October 10, 2026

Pre-Competition notes

Competition files.

Turnpoints and Airspace are from last year's Nationals and may be changed before the competition begins, but will give you something to play with until they are finalised.

If you (competitors) want to be helpful, please check occasionally that your personal and aircraft details are correct.

The Scorer (me) would appreciate a representative recent igc file from each flight recorder that you will be using during the competion, send it to igcscorer@outlook.com , DO NOT think it is helpful to change the name of the file! It is NOT and will cause you pain if you do it during the competition. This file will be taken as registration of your flight recorder(s), you are permitted two which should be registered before the first competition day.  Yhere are penalties available if you drop an unregistered log file on me during the comp.

If you really must use a device running XCSoar or similar, please set the logger id to something unique - such as XCS-GRU (e.g. use the three low order characters from your glider reg, or your competition number 2 or 3 characters)

It's always a good idea to read the rules, both overall (FAI/IGC  rulebook) and local rules (when published)

To save you looking, here is a link to the current FAI rulebook:

https://www.fai.org/sites/default/files/document/file/SC3A_2025a.pdf

Information is correct to the best of my knowledge, please check that your glider is correctly described and that the handicap i correct.
Club and 2 Seat classes are using FAI/IGC handicaps,
Open/18m class i using the German (DAeC) 'Klassenűbergriefend' (mixed classes) list available here:

See pages 6 - 10

Airspace and Turnpoint files are available, but are subject to change.

Have fun!
