Beverley Double-Cross-Country Week

Beverley, Australia,   13 January 2025 – 24 January 2025

Monster Day or Magic Day?

Predicted conditions were "interesting" today with the strong influence of Tropical Cyclone Sean throwing overcast at all levels.

Thirteen competitors launched into hot and trying 43 degrees C conditions before the convection really had a chance to "take off". Two returned to the airfield and the remainder strode forth into the task area, some tentatively...

However!

Conditions further to the north improved markedly with climbs to 15,000ft and more resulting in some fast final glides from a long way out.

The rest of this week is still forecast to have "extreme heatwave" warnings and probably the fire bans that go with that, making retrieves tricky.

All the best to the competitors for the remaining competition days - and thanks for the photos
