Central Plateau Soaring Competion

New Zealand,   1 November 2009 – 7 November 2009

Friday 6th

09:45  - Windy but clear & sunny with some cu's obvious already. Gliders are gridding before briefing today so it looks like our weatherman is a little more optimistic for today.

11:45 - We have two tasks for Open Class, One for Club Class. Briefing is underway & we are working on an early launch

12:40 - Launch is underway

13:20 - Launch is done. The club task is posted & the Fast class will be up soon. We are expecting 7000' cloudbase today. The wind seems to be dropping a little and is now down to around 10 knots. There is a possibility it may blue out later today, but we are optimistic enough to stick to task A which will take the open class north towards Kawerau before turning south down into the Kaimanawas around the Boyd airstrip and then the option of completing a round the lake flight out to Pureora.

19:15 - Results are posted. Some lake and sea breeze activity influencing todays flights. Those that chose to go around the southern end of Lake Taupo did well, with one or two landouts caught out by the sea breeze.
