South African Nationals 2011

South Africa,   10 December 2011 – 22 December 2011

Mon. 12th December – 2nd Contest Day

All the outlandings and retrieves of yesterday went smoothly and those that needed to be rigged this morning are now rigged and ready for today’s flying.  A beautiful clear morning with 100% blue skies and not a sign of any clouds.

As has become the norm, there are not too many crew members, so pilots are having to help each other with pushing and pulling gliders onto the runway and ensuring their wing walkers, wheels, etc. are moved away.

Today conditions will remain blue, winds are still westerly but will be more SWesterly later in the day.  Max. temperature expected to be 27° with trigger temperature 25.2°, and lift 2.5 m/sec up to a maximum of 12 000 ft. but possibly not as high, maybe 10 000 ft.  The prognosis for tomorrow is a much higher dewpoint with storms and hail.

Again runway 25 with gridding by 11 a.m.  Tasks as follows:

Open/18m.

Task A:  434.7 km. Britten – Schweizer Reneke – Vierfontein – Control NW

Task B:  346.2 km. Bloemhof – Wolmaranstad – Vierfontein – Control NW

Club

Task A:  318.2 km. Hoopstad – R29 – Mirage – Control NW
