Those of us eating at the airfield last evening enjoyed a lovely evening and could decide on the thickness and weight of the rump steak that we were going to eat. We also toasted the 34th wedding anniversary of Ian and Allison Buchanan. Ian is the very able contest director, whilst Allison’s embroidery sewing machine has been running non-stop since the commencement of the contest.
To be thanked are the various sponsors so far of daily prizes – Daniel Rodic, Ronald Termaat, and Laura Wyld. Thank you to these people for their generosity.
This morning is already fairly warm and with a stiff breeze blowing from a northerly direction.
As the morning has progressed the wind has lessened and the max temperature is expected to be 32.8° with dewpoint 11°. So basically each day is getting warmer and more moisture. There might be some cloud later on, but Sven is expecting it to be a similar day to yesterday and predominantly blue conditions. Tomorrow they expect between 3 – 5/8ths cloud with the possibility of rain in the evening.
Pilots were warned about complacency and to ensure they do their checks and keep a good look out. Very significant today as the task takes the pilots towards Bloemfontein where there is also gliding activity so there will be more gliders in the air. Also to be aware of the different airspace height limits.
