From long before the first launch to late into the night each competition day, a hard working team of volunteers work to bring a gliding comp to fruition. Lake Keepit Soaring Club wishes to thank the following individuals that made the 2016 NSWGA State Championships such a success.

Making his debut in the role of herder of cats was Competition Director Pete Summerfeldt.

Chief fibreglass flinger Ian Downes guided tow pilots Gary McMahon, Val Phillips, Pete Ritchie, Greg Smith & Lu Delerue to launch the fleet in record time each day.

Casting a beady eye over the proceedings were Safety Officers Val Phillips & Vic Hatfield while Philip Goninon managed to make gridding the most unmanoeurveable of combinations - a car attached to a glider - look easy.

Jacques Graells ordered the finest weather each morning whilst Dave Shorter set tasks to make the most of it. Casey Lewis reconciled the pilots efforts in joining the two each night, accounting for theif efforts with points & penalties.

Chris Bowman counted the beans, made lunches and ran into 'town' when required. He was joined by Ian Downes, Tim Carr & Val Phillips in the planning and organisation of this comp over the past four months.

Making a welcome return to the 'providore of fine dining' role was Joy Downes, whilst Lise & Daniel Dubreuil took some stunning photos of the event.

Finally, the hottest and most physically demanding job on the airfield - rope running - was was experty handled by Phil Goninon, Val Phillips, Daniel Dubreuil, Trevor West, Peter Shiels and the comp competitors.

To all of the above and those I've undoubtedly omitted, thank you.

Day 7 - Winners to follow!

It's been a big week at Lake Keepit Soaring Club and race fans could be no better rewarded than by the narrow splits in two classes.  In Club class, the Hunter Valley's Paul Dickson leads home team favourite Jenny Ganderton by 141 points.  In 15m, the margin narrows to a mere 16 points between HVGC stalwart Mick Webster and LKSC's weather & IT guru, Jacques Graells.  Narromine's Tom Claffey maintains a commanding lead of 629 points over Keepit's own Matthew Atkinson but nothing's assured in this...

Yesterdays Outlandings

The weather for today (Friday) is once again quite reasonable. Yesterday the weather ended up as a challenge and three pilots outlanded. The first was not far from Lake Keepit, the second up to the North near Terri HieHie.  The third pilot outlanded just South of BaanBaa.  All three retrieves were apparently very interesting.

Mid-Way thru the Comp

Here we are half way thru the comp,  this morning looked once again quite good. We launched the fleet for an 18m gate opening of 1315, the sky was scattered cu to the North, scattered cu to the East, and some cu overhead and to the west, which has gradually improved.  The 15m and Club Class pilots are also out there flying around in what looks like a very nice sky.   Our first inbound calls should start happening in about 25 minutes.
